Cuff in Silver
$400.00
A sculptural bracelet in recycled sterling silver, delicately resembling the shape of barbed wire, inspired by the Las Gorras Blancas movement, an 1880’s political protest in response to property theft from western squatters, as New Mexico became a state. Titled 'Don't Fence Me In', this piece serves as a meaningful reminder for us all, while tapping into the designer's personal effort for autonomy and independence as an Indigenous woman, the beauty and form of barbed wire, and the complex symbolism behind it. Designed by artist Maida Branch, and hand made by Gino Antonio in the Navajo Nation. Wear as a perfect set with matching choker or stacked in multiples. Two sizes, approximately 6 inches and 8 inches in circumference with no gap, expandable to fit most wrist sizes. Each piece is a unique handmade work of art, with natural variations welcomed.
